SoulSalsa – Be inspired!…

“Dancing the SoulSalsa is just a new way of approaching life! A soul that doesn‘t dance, is a soul busy dying… Spiritually; emotionally; physically; mentally; relationally & in all other walks of life…”

The majority of employees on planet follow the same rhythm: They work from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (in some cases even Saturday & Sunday); Keeping this beat for more than 11 months of the year and only then take that “big” annual break for about ± 20 working days; then go back to work, starting the “Rat Race” all over again.

What are we proposing?

We want to inspire you to dance to a different beat! Why not take 50% of your annual leave and use it for Mini Weekend Breaks? We propose a lifestyle of “long-weekends”. Here are the steps to this new dance: “Quick; Quick; SLOW… Quick; Quick; SLOW…”

  • Say you have 20 working days’ leave a year: Reserve 10 days for your regular ‘annual’ break, but save 10 working days for taking Long Weekend Breaks.
  • With this 10 days leave, schedule 5 Long-Weekends per year. This excludes the regular long-weekends on our calendar. With these 5 Long weekends, let’s say you have your normal Saturday & Sunday off, but then take the Friday & Monday off as well.
  • This results in a 3 night/4 day mini-holiday!
  • Now imagine 5 of these a year! This is apart from the regular calendar-scheduled long weekends and remaining 10 working days annual leave… Sounds like taking vacations all year round! Not a bad idea.

Why are we encouraging you to start learning the “SoulSalsa”?

  1. To avoid the #1 life-threatening employee disease, called “Burnout“. There is years of research freely available online, detailing the worrying statistics of the deadly effects of stress, resulting in burnout and all sorts of physical, emotional & psychological diseases…
  2. Secondly, to honour the ancient “Sabbatical Principle” of a well deserved rest. Your body is not designed to keep on going indefinitely, but needs regular breaks to recuperate, recharge and to fill up your creativity tank. Starving yourself for that “once-off” annual break to cramp in all your rest is not wise.
  3. For your spouse, family and friends’ sake! Ever wonder why dad or the guy at work is so grumpy? It might just be because they are making the classic “one long holiday” mistake. It’s amazing what a mini-break can do for you!

Slow Dance (Author Unknown…)

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down; Don’t dance so fast. Time is short; The music won’t last.

Do you run through each day on the fly?
When you ask: How are you? Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done, do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores running through your head?

You’d better slow down. Don’t dance so fast. Time is short. The music won’t last.

Ever told your child, we’ll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time to call and say, “Hi”?

You’d better slow down. Don’t dance so fast. Time is short. The music won’t last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.

When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift thrown away.

Life is not a race. Do take it slower. Hear the music before the song is over…
